We are SO excited to be starting a HUGE health challenge September 16 at Iron Bar Fitness. We are already hearing grumblings from friends, family, and gym members about how excited they are to get back into a routine after a summer of fun and events.

As we get more and more settled and organized in our new space, September will be an exciting time to build a gym community and surround yourself with like-minded people wanting to make some lasting health based changes.

This time around the Whole Life Challenge is going to be BIG! Our prize packs will be announced during our Whole Life Challenge kick off, which will be Monday, September 11th at 6:30 PM at Iron Bar Fitness. We will give you a full timeline and details of the kick off closer to the event.

In the meantime, take a look at a brief outline of the Whole Life Challenge. Feel free to email us any questions you might have, and if you are ready to take the leap you can already sign yourself up at the link below for early bird pricing!

You first need to decide what nutrition level you will play at in the Whole Life Challenge. Don’t worry, we can help you decide during the kick off, but here is a brief outline of the levels.

NUTRITION LEVELS

Performance—The strictest level of the WLC. If you already have good eating habits that you just want to fine tune, have athletic or performance-related goals, or have a pressing health or inflammation condition that you’d like to address, choose this level. The basic rules for this level (with a couple exceptions) are: no grains, no sugar, no dairy, no soda, no alcohol, and no artificial ingredients.

So what can you eat? Fish, poultry, beef, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, oils and sweet potatoes. Think of it as a short-term acceleration program. While elements of it can be adapted to your daily life post-Challenge, maintaining it over the long term would be difficult and maybe not even necessary.

Lifestyle—A good choice if you are looking for a long-term lifestyle nutrition program. This is a great start to a sustainable practice of living a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining it to a “T” post-Challenge might be difficult, but it represents something much more adaptable to a long-term program than the Performance Level. It will allow additional options in each of the five main WLC nutrition categories (grains, sugar, dairy, beverages, artificial ingredients). Long-term compliance will still be challenging, but sticking to the nutrition requirements for 8 weeks is much more manageable.

Kick Start—A great place to start if you’re new to the health and fitness game and need to make the most important tweaks to get yourself started in the right direction. Cuts out what your mom might call “junk.” This level gives you one or two things to eliminate in each of the five main WLC nutrition categories. You can eliminate more, but by starting with these over eight weeks, you’ll be off to a great start. If you are just starting to make a lifestyle change, this level will definitely be a challenge that culminates in amazing results.

WHAT ELSE IS INVOLVED?

During our Whole Life Challenge Kick Off we will help you record you preliminary measurements which include:

  • A measurable workout, which we will give you and coach you through!
  • Basic Body Measurements and before photos which we will take for you if desired.

There are 7 main components to the Whole Life Challenge:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Mobilize
  • Hydrate
  • Sleep
  • Lifestyle Habits
  • Reflect

We will give you more information on all of these components in the weeks to come!

The Whole Life Challenge is BIG fun and you definitely will learn a lot. Personally, I have done this challenge 5 times now, and this time around I am going to play the Performance Level and really challenge myself. I am so looking forward to helping you all learn about nutrition, find comfort and fun in exercise, help you learn how to mobilize and hopefully inspire some positive change in your life.
