Tips to Boost Your Kids Immunity

Parks and beaches are opening!

Finally our children are going to get to have some fun, play with other kids, and have a chance to be a kid again. Currently, in our society we are very concerned with germs, killing germs, making them non-existent and sanitizing EVERYTHING.

Here is the thing. Health and immunity starts from the inside. NOT from killing things from the outside.

I am a mom of a 4-year-old little girl, and I do ALL of these things with her. Of course, she has treats like ice cream and campfire smores at the lake, but 80% of the time we are practicing these tips diligently with her. At four years old, our little girl has thrown up ONCE (and honestly I think it is because she ate a “bad” pepperoni stick she had never consumed before), and has had the sniffles twice.

Take a look at 5 tips to naturally boost your child’s immune system.

1. It all starts with the diet.

  • Eliminate sugar, juice and pop (seriously, my little girl drinks water 90% of the time, and OCCASIONALLY gets treated to juice)

  • Increase the fruits and veggies (fruit or a veggie at every single meal and snack)

  • High quality protein (beans, fish, chicken, meats at every single meal and snack)

  • High quality fat (avocado, olive oil, coconut, nuts, seeds at every single meal and snack)

2. Give your child a probiotic

Kids who take probiotics are proven to have fewer colds, coughs, and runny noses. b. ESPECIALLY if your child has taken antibiotics (which kills all the bad and the good bacteria) you NEED to supplement with a probiotic

3. VITAMIN D3

INCREDIBLY important for overall health. We live in a place where we don’t get much sun. This vitamin is essential to supplement with. We do not get this from our diet.

4. Sleep!!

Kids NEED sleep. I know it is hard to get the little ones in and sleeping early in the summer, but it is essential for their health, mind and body development, and to help them eliminate stress and anxiety (yes kids face these issues too). My little girl gets 10-12 hours a sleep/night.

5. Multi-vitamin

I list this one last, as I do believe the first 4 are the most important. Once you have these perfected, it is a good idea to introduce a high quality chewable vitamin to your kids morning routine (and, no I am not talking about the Flintstone’s chewable haha!). I use the brand Usana, as I have fully researched and trust it. Do your research when it comes to supplements.

Immune boosting doesn’t happen overnight, so get started on this NOW for when your kiddos are back in school in the fall. These tips have scientific evidence behind them, are affordable AND safe!
